Courtney Barron

Courtney has trained in dance for over 20 years, and has been teaching at Casey’s Dance Centre for the past 8 years. Specializing in contemporary dance, Courtney has studied through the University of Alberta to further her skills in modern dance and dance conditioning, while taking various workshops throughout the city. She is also trained in hip hop, ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, musical theatre, and highland dancing. Courtney has worked with dancers ages 3-20 throughout the Edmonton area, and loves the reward she finds through teaching. She has been involved in various dance initiatives, working with Alberta Dance Festival, Standing Ovation Dance Festival, dance workshops, summer camps, and programs with Edmonton schools teaching creative movement, hip hop, and folk dance. Courtney completed her Bachelor of Education degree with a minor in the Fine Arts, and currently teaches with Edmonton Public Schools as a music teacher, sharing her passion for the arts with her students. She knows that her first love of dance will always inspire her to continue learning and giving back to the community.

Carley Borza

Carley is entering her 6th year teaching at Casey’s! Carley fell in love with dance at the age of 3 and has been training for over 17 years in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical, Modern, Musical Theater and Hip Hop. Carley has trained in Los Angeles, Vancouver, New York and London. As a teacher, her students have been successful in attaining many top awards as well as many choreography awards. Currently, Carley is finishing her Masters in Clinical Child Psychology at the University of Alberta and has applied to the PhD program. She absolutely loves working with children and sharing her passion for dance!
 
 

Meghan Campbell

Meghan began taking ballet classes when she was only two and a half years old. From there her training intensified with each year as she included many more disciplines to become a more diverse dancer. Meghan spent a summer training at the Banff Center for Performing Arts, has attended various conventions around Canada and also took classes at Broadway Dance Center in New York City. She successfully completed her Advanced II RAD exam in 2003. Meghan also enjoyed a year dancing on the Mariner of the Seas for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. As a teacher her students have received many top awards for both their performances and choreography. Meghan continues to share her love for dance with the students at Casey's.
 
 
 
 

Marie Casey

Marie Casey, for 32 years the owner and director of Casey's, has had a significant impact on the community. A major part of her life has been inspired by her love of children, and a desire to help the dreams of others come true. She has enjoyed watching friendships grow and students go off to perform around the world, become dance instructors, or leave for university.  Her concern for children has led to numerous honors. In 1994 the Northern Alberta Crippled Children Association presented her the volunteer of the year award. In 1998 she was nominated for a Canadian Flare Women's award. In 1999 she was one of ITV's "Women of Vision" for her philanthropy and vision. In 2003 Marie was awarded a Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal for the significant contributions she has made to Canada and her community. Her accomplishments with children at Casey's, and with "Dancing from the Heart" (a dance competition which donated over $400,000.00 to charity) truly exemplify that "you can do anything you set your mind to." Marie strives to provide an environment where the students receive excellent technique and instruction from a variety of styles and personalities in an air of unbridled love of dance.
 

Tracy Freund

Tracy began dancing at Casey's at the age of 3. She has been trained in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Musical Theatre and Lyrical. Dance has given her many opportunities: such as competing extensively throughout Alberta and  participating in  dance performances on the Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruise lines with Casey's Dance Centre. She looks forward to the years of dance ahead and hopes that it will always be apart of her life.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Amanda Gibbons

Amanda began dancing with Casey's Dance Center at the age of five. Her main passion is tap, but throughout the years she has taken instruction in jazz, hip hop, ballet, musical theatre and lyrical. In 2000, Amanda, along with two fellow dancers, won the top award at Power Finals in Banff, Alberta. In her teens, Amanda spent many hours volunteering at Dancin From the Heart, and in 2004 assisted in running the Alberta Dance Festival which she now co-ordinates.  Amanda has attended classes and workshops throughout Western Canada and is very excited to once again be  sharing her passion for tap with the students at Casey’s.

 

 

 

Margo LaCoursiere

Margo started dancing at the age of 4 and has really never stopped.  She trained in jazz and modern dance and completed her Elementary ballet exam with the Royal Academy of Dancing in Calgary.  After enjoying two years teaching ballet and jazz in Yellowknife, N.W.T. she moved to Toronto to attend Ryerson University to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree in dance and the Royal Academy of Dancing teacher training program.  Margo moved to Edmonton in 1991 and has taught at the University of Albera - Orchesis, Beaumont School of Dance and Dance Alberta.  She recently went to Seatlle to train with Anne Green Gilbert in the art of creative dance and movement and has been teaching dance through Artist in Residence programs in various elementary schools around Edmonton and Sherwood Park.  She is also currently teaching ballet at the Edmonton Ukranian Dance Academy and to their company Vohon.  Margo with the creative team at Casey's  hopes to inspire a love of dance and movement in all of her students.
 
 

Eryn Lemiski

Eryn recently completed the two-year diploma program with distinction in Theatre Arts, at Grant MacEwan University, where she was exposed to various genres of acting, dance and singing.  It was a great experience for her and she landed the starring role as the dynamic, ever hopeful Millie, in the school’s musical production of Thoroughly Modern Millie.  She has had the fortune of learning from and working with incredible mentors like, Marie Casey, Tim Ryan, Brian Webb, and Cindy Kerr.  She has always thoroughly enjoyed the art of performance and is very excited to be back at Casey’s.  After 16 years of jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, musical theatre and hip hop, she feels privileged to be able to inspire other young dancers. She was fortunate to be able to travel to New York to take dance classes at the prestigious Broadway Dance Center.  She has also danced on three different cruise ships and coaches a high school cheer team. She believes in Carpe Diem and lives her life to the fullest!

 

 

Andrea Okonkwo

Andrea Okonkwo began her dance training at the age of seven in Fort St. John, British Columbia. While she trained in all disciplines of dance, ballet was, and still is her first love. Growing up Andrea completed all of her children's exams as well Intermediate Foundation through to Advanced 1 with the Royal Academy of Dance while also working her way through all the CDTA tap examinations. Throughout her years of training she participated in countless dance festivals and competitions earning top marks in ballet to qualify her as a competitor at the BC Festival of the Arts six years in a row. Each summer, Andrea also attended some of Canada's finest summer programmes such as the Kirkwood Academy and the Banff Centre of Fine Arts.
 
After highschool, Andrea was accepted into the Royal Winnipeg Ballet's professional programme. There she trained under the watchful eyes of many world class intructors and choreographers. During her years in the school and after her graduation, Andrea perforned with the RWB company in such renowned ballets as Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Paquita, The Nutcracker and Romeo and Juliet to name just a few.
 
Wanting to pursue the challenges and joys of teaching, Andrea joined their teacher training programme and became a certified Cecchetti teacher. Andrea then moved to Edmonton to teach full time and earned her teaching certificate with the Royal Academy of Dance graduating with Distinction. For the past 13 years, Andrea has been teaching, choreographing and adjudicating not only in Edmonton but throughout Alberta, Saskachewan and British Columbia. Andrea is married and the mother of two little girls, Olivia and Rachael. She is looking forward to the new season  at Casey's and is excited to share her passion for ballet with the dancers and their families.
 

Janel Park

Janel is very excited about sharing her knowledge and passion of performing with the dancers at Casey's. She spent  three years traveling throughout Europe and the Caribbean as a lead dancer for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Dancing since the age of three, she has completed her Grade 8 Al Gilbert exam and her ballet Advanced II RAD exam. Janel completed her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Alberta. October, 2011, saw Janel become a mom to baby Kai!

 

 

 

 

Sara Pickering

Sara has been dancing at Casey's Dance Centre for 20 years and has taken classes in jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, modern and musical theatre. She has traveled to Vancouver and New York to take classes. She enjoys performing and has danced on three cruise ships. Sara enjoys working with young children and is excited to share her love for dance with others by teaching at Casey's.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Kelly Robinson

Kelly has been dancing with Casey's for the last 18 years.  She has trained exclusively in Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Modern, and Musical Theatre.  She has attended many competitions and workshops in Edmonton and Calgary as well as traveled with Casey's to take classes in Vancouver and New York.  She has also performed with Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruise Lines.  Kelly is looking forward to joining the teaching staff at Casey's this year and continues to share her love for dance with others.
